Adara Wall
A classic west-coast wall where the drop-off begins just a few metres from the beach, draped with soft corals and sponges. Schools of snappers, surgeonfish, fusiliers and trevally patrol the reef, with pelagics possible in the blue.
A steep-walled island in the Coral Triangle off Dili where a 2016 Conservation International survey recorded the world's highest average reef-fish diversity per site. Reef, wall and macro diving sit beside the deep Ombai-Wetar Strait, a major migration corridor for whales and dolphins.

Water and air temperature across the year.
Ataúro Island lies roughly 25-30 km north of Dili, separated from mainland Timor-Leste by the deep Ombai-Wetar Strait. In July 2016 a Conservation International Rapid Assessment Program team recorded an average of 253 reef-fish species across 10 study sites — the highest average ever documented, surpassing Indonesia's Raja Ampat — with one site reaching 315 species. The east coast around Beloi offers sheltered, gently sloping fringing reefs and coral gardens, while the more exposed west coast plunges into dramatic walls and drop-offs that draw passing pelagics. Conditions range from easy shore and house-reef dives to current-swept advanced sites such as Big Fish. The adjacent strait is a candidate Whale Heritage Site and a migration superhighway, with pygmy blue whales, pilot whales and large dolphin pods passing through from roughly September to December. Tourism is community-based and the dive infrastructure, while growing, remains small — a handful of PADI operators based on the island and in Dili.

A classic west-coast wall where the drop-off begins just a few metres from the beach, draped with soft corals and sponges. Schools of snappers, surgeonfish, fusiliers and trevally patrol the reef, with pelagics possible in the blue.
A macro-rich house-reef site once named among the world's top ten house reefs. Sandy slope and coral gardens hold blue-spotted stingrays and turtles sheltering under table corals, with strong critter diving.
A sloping reef north of Haruina dropping past 50 m, cloaked in soft and hard corals. Strong and unpredictable currents make it an advanced site best left to experienced divers.
A sloping wall near the island's northern tip with nearby beach access, drawing bigger animals including sharks, tuna and bumphead parrotfish along the reef.
House-reef-adjacent east-side site combining a sloping reef with dramatic walls that drop beyond 100 m, regarded as one of the most biodiverse reefs around the island. A drift dive when current runs, with chances at hammerheads and tuna along the wall.
An advanced current-swept site on the strait edge where schools of pelagics gather — sharks, tunas, giant trevally and snappers. Very strong and unpredictable currents mean it is reserved for experienced divers.
